Longworth Runners is a very friendly and informal running club.
We meet in front of Longworth Village Hall on Saturday mornings, usually at 9:00 am; although we strongly recommend you sign up to the WhatsApp group so you know who is running and when (text / WhatsApp 07919486307). We typically choose a route of 5-7 miles. We’re a mixed bunch and pace is anywhere between 8:00 and 9:30 minutes per mile. If you’re a straggler and you don’t know the route then don’t worry, someone will run with you!
In the summer, we like to run mainly off road. Favourite routes include loops that taken in Ten Foot Bridge, Chimney Meadows, Harrowdown Hill and New Bridge. In the winter when it’s too wet for those routes we stick to the road, sometimes heading for Fyfield or towards Charney Basset.
Every year in September we organize a 10k multi-terrain race in aid of HALF. Come and train with us and let us help you prepare for the 10k challenge!

I have been asked to contact you on behalf of East Midlands Medical Services Ltd. We are a new First aid and medical response company. All our staff are DBS checked and qualified from first aid to paramedic level.
I believe our company could give a consistent and reliable service at all public events throughout the UK, with more skills and still be cost effective.
Any questions please email info@em-ems.co.uk and myself or Edward Cresswell will be happy to assist.

I hope this email finds you well and you don’t mind me contacting your running club. I was keen to get in touch as we are hosting our global event called the Wings for Life World Run-it’s a completely unique event taking a really interesting twist on the usual running race. The unique, global event is being held in over 34 locations all around the world and is a great opportunity for everybody over 18 to get involved, regardless of fitness levels. All participants start running at exactly the same time and are chased down by a catcher car moving at an ever increasing speed, knocking participants out of the race one by one until there’s a male and a female global winner. The event is great for anyone at any level of running with average distances of runners ranging between 5km-25km. If there’s the more elite athletes then you may like to know that our 2015 global winner reached 79.9Km before being caught by the catcher car! This year the 2016 event will take place on 8th May in the centre of Cambridge, with a UK start time of 12pm and we would love to welcome you there. Running clubs can create teams and if this something you might be interested in, please feel free to get in contact. Finally if it would be possible for me to send through some flyers or posters to be placed around the club please do let me know.
Many thanks, Gemma Coate

Hi Richard – hope you are well. I was looking to register my 12 year old son, Archie with English Athletics so he could do some open sprint events this summer. He runs at St.Hughs but isn’t a member of any athletics club. I wonder if it would be possible to register through the Longworth Runners to enable him to obtain an EEA registration number. Best regards, Graham Thomson (The Lodge, Springhill, Longworth)

Hello,
I would like to register to the Longworthrunners 10K run taking place on Sep 18th.
However, your online system does not seem to work at the moment?
When I click on Save & Continue at the end of the form (making sure I have filled in all the necessary details), it does not do anything. Could you please check?
Thanks.

Dear Club Secretary/Contact,
It would be great if you promote these runs to your Club members and consider placing them in your Club diary.
I realise many of you are regular entrants and several Clubs have already entered a number of runners; Thank you for that.
We changed our race timing for 2016 and the new team are proving a great success with immediate online results, individual results and certificate printing at the finish.
Forest of Dean Half Marathon – Sunday 19th March 2017
entries now open
Please find attached a poster/flyer for this event which we would be grateful if you could circulate and display.
This event is in 20th year and with continued improvements over the years; continues to get great reviews. Many local running Clubs have added it to their club championships and we regularly get excess of 2000 entries.
The event is a single lap of traffic free running, the majority on wide hard forest trails.
For further details see http://www.forestofdean-halfmarathon.co.uk/spring_trails
also
Forest of Dean Autumn Half Marathon – Sunday 24th Sept 2017
We also organise an Autumn Half Marathon which is run entirely off road, again on good wide tracks. The run onto higher ground of the forest gives great views of the early autumn and has been described as our BEST ROUTE EVER
for further details see http://www.forestofdean-halfmarathon.co.uk/autumn/
and
Forest of Dean Autumn 5k Run – Sunday 24th Sept 2017
http://www.rotary-rfod-events.org.uk/
This 5k run with 150 or so entries is run on a shortened loop of the Autumn half marathon. Starting shortly after the HM has left the village, this allows all the 5k runners back to the finish in time to see the Half Marathon runners home. This is ideal to bring shorter distance runners along to the HM event.
All our events are run entirely for charity,
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me at rfodrotary@aol.com
Thank you

My name is Andy and I am the Nation Manager of Run Around Europe.
Just a quick note to let you know our virtual Run Around Europe has begun. The event is all about each individuals own journey, as they tackle the journey at their own pace and with their own objectives in mind. We have checkpoint towns every 60-80 miles of which some fun facts are sent through to the members. You can track your process as well as your club progress on our interactive map of Europe. All participants receive a running top as well a a medal at the end of each year!
I was hoping that in early 2017 you wouldn’t mind me joining you for one of your club sessions? It would be great to join in on a session and let everyone on social media that we will be there. I would be happy to support you to create a club page on our website. Once you have 20 participants with Run Around Europe, we would like to donate £3 for every member to your club for equipment and resources, or to the charity of your choice.
In the mean time please check us out at http://www.runaroundeurope.com. If you do like the look of our virtual run, I would be happy to give you a couple of free subscriptions prior to myself attending your club session so you can have a first hand experience of the event.

Hi,
Steve from Witney Roadrunners here.
I am involved in this years Carterton 10k.
Could you let me have an address so that I can send you some entry forms for your runner, please?
We’d be very grateful if you could encourage your members to come along and support the run, this year we are trying to raise funds for the Heart unit at the JR, a great cause, I’m sure you’ll agree. £2 from every entry will go to the unit, but other donations from sponsorship will be gratefully received.
Traditionally this run has not been that well supported for various reasons, hence WRR coming on board to try and improve areas of the race and get numbers up.
Race date is Easter Sunday, 16th April, so not long to go!
Please get back in touch and I can send you some entry forms or ring me on 01993 779110 to have a chat
Many Thanks
Steve

Hi
I’m trying to enter my wife and myself into the 10k Run on 24/09/2017. The website I’m directed to allows me to enter my details but when I say “save and and another runner” the website freezes. Is there anything I can do or will it be that we will have to turn up on the day?
Many thanks

I am writing to you as the Event Manager of an exciting new running event for Cancer Research UK in Cornbury Park, Oxfordshire this autumn.
Oxfordshire has been chosen to host Cancer Research UK’s Tough 10 for the first time, a 10k trail run with challenging muddy slopes, thigh burning hills and tough terrain. Cancer Research UK is daring men and women across the county to take on the challenge and sign up for the event at Cornbury Park on 4 November 2017.
Runners will be pitting themselves against some of the UK’s toughest terrain to raise money for life-saving research. Each event in the Tough 10 series is marked tough, tougher or toughest based on the level of difficulty of each course. The Oxfordshire route is ranked tough so it’s suitable for regular runners or first timers looking for a challenge.
Please can you share our race information to your members – for more information and to sign up, please use the following link:
http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/support-us/find-an-event/charity-runs/tough-10/tough-10-oxfordshire
We are also looking for volunteer marshals for this event and wondered if any of your members would be willing to offer their time to support. All marshals will be provided with a full briefing, refreshments and a t-shirt.
For more information and to sign up, please use the above link or alternatively please do not hesitate to contact me. If you would prefer to register a goup of volunteers directly with me, that will be fine too.
Many thanks for your support.
Kind regards

The photos are free for you to download. However, you put a photo somewhere public (including Facebook), I would like the credit “Photo by Barry Cornelius”. Thanks.
I maintain a web page for runners that provides a list of races near Oxfordshire and the latest results. Visit http://www.oxonraces.com and follow @oxonraces

Oxford Half Marathon- Run for Restore, Oxfordshire’s charity of of the year 2018 in the Oxford Half Marathon on 7th October 2018
Dear Sir/Madam,
I raise funds for Restore, the Oxford based mental health charity, which helps people who have suffered from mental ill health to manage their recovery through gardening, woodworking, crafts and art, enabling them to reintegrate into society and to give them strategies to manage their recovery.
We have centres in Oxford, Banbury, Didcot and two associate partnerships with Root and Branch near Witney and Bridewell Gardens, which is between Chipping Norton and Witney.
We are looking for runners to run in the Oxford Half Marathon to raise money for us on 7th October 2018.
I realise that many of you will see this as a workaday challenge and not all that much like an achievement, but we would still like to see if you might be interested in combining the run with some serious fundraising for Restore. We were recentyly named Oxfordshire’s charity of the year 2018 at the Oxfordshire Business Awards, and we represent the people of Oxfordshire in a positive, life affirming way.
We would welcome any of you that would like to raise funds, offering runners a free spot in the race if they raise in excess of £150 for Restore.
Please contact me if you or your club are interested in running for us.
Thanks and Best Regards
—
