Longworth Church Lights Up
The Friends of Longworth Church held their second fireworks evening on Saturday 7th November which included a Bonfire, a professional Fireworks Display and a Pig Roast in the grounds of Longworth Manor, by kind permission of Mrs Walton. Over £1400 was raised in aid of the Church's Restoration Fund. The organisers would like to thank the 400 people that attended the event whose magnificent support made this now annual event such a success.

A single entry of just one Guy to the ‘Best Guy competition’, indicates that Guy Fawkes and his historical actions seem to be being dampened down and so we say farewell to this particular feature. However, the Committee is already planning alternative and additional surprise entertainment as well as supplying hot drinks, additional changes to the timetable to move things on a little quicker and the provision of easier access. (Please note: The Committee are already actively reacting to your suggestions and ideas which are always welcome and will introduce change where possible and necessary.)

To organise such an event demands a great deal of effort and time. Thanks should go to Mrs Walton and the ‘Friends of Longworth Church’ Committee. Special mention should be given to David Cooke, Susan Houlton and Fiona Benbow, as well as their happy band of last minute volunteers who all freely gave their time to build the bonfire, man the ticket desk, cook and serve the food, man the Bar and clear up afterwards. Their collective effort made the event very special. We are pleased to announce that the ever increasing popularity of this event virtually guarantees another brilliant display next year! We look forward to seeing you on 6th November 2010 - please make sure this date is in your diary!
