The Emperor’s New Clothes by Richard Hellesen (based on the classic fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen) is being presented by the Kingston Bagpuize Drama Group at Southmoor Village Hall. It is a play suitable for all the family from age 4 and upwards. It tells the story of a vain Emperor who cares about nothing but his clothes and appearance. Two ‘weavers’ come to town and trick the Emperor and his court into believing they can make magic cloth that is invisible to anyone who is a fool or unfit for their jobs. The Emperor orders clothes for everyone to be made from the magical cloth ready for his Coronation parade. With everyone else fooled, Amelia, the young daughter of the Royal Tailor, has to decide if she has the courage to speak up and expose the weavers for the rogues they really are!
