The following correspondence includes a letter from Hanson's landscape architect to Peter McGregor dated 25 Oct 04,
a reply to this letter dated 8 Nov 04 and a letter to Emma Shaw at Oxfordshire County Council also dated 8 Nov 04.

Dear Mr Clarkson
Thank you for your letter of 25th October with copies of your plans. My neighbours have had the chance to consider your letter.
Since we are all totally opposed to the sandpit proposal we think that it might mislead you into thinking that we are prepared
to negotiate if we were to make suggestions on the very limited basis of "specific views from our dwellings" which you seem to be
suggesting. You know the site. It is up to you to propose what you wish in regard to the full range of environmental problems
created by your proposed planning application. We shall examine these complete proposals with interest when they reach the draft
stage, as Mr Duncan suggested, and look forward to hearing from him in due course.
We shall discuss these matters with the Oxfordshire County Council.

Dear Ms Shaw
We have received a letter from a Hanson landscape architect (copy enclosed) inviting us to let him know our concerns about
"views from our properties". I enclose a copy of our reply. We are all totally opposed to this development and assume that
OCC officials will recommend rejection of it in view of the potential damage to the environment and conflict with adopted plans.
We are aware however of the possibility of an appeal and the intervention of an Inspector, and we write to tell you what we
look upon as an absolute minimum of environmental commitment which should feature in the planning application. This is
by no means an exhaustive list and we shall be adding to it. Please feel free to pass the contents of the following list
to Hanson with whom we do not wish to give the impression that we are prepared to negotiate.
1. Every existing tree to be preserved.
2. The line bordering Pine Woods Road to be planted with similar native trees to fill gaps towards the north.
3. Two more lines of similar trees to be planted behind the present ones.
4. All equipment to be invisible at all times from all houses around the field including the A420
5. The haul road to be at the western side of the field where any soil storage should also take place.
6 The exit gate to be moved nearer the A420 to avoid damage by trucks passing alongside the trees at that point, which would be contrary to
MWLP Code of Practice page 59)
7. The land to be restored to its original levels so that Grade 2 agricultural land is once again available.(there is a 12.47 metres
ground level difference from the bottom sw corner to the highest ridge.)
8. Hanson to provide a detailed hydrogeological report by an independent consultant who is not a member of Hanson staff
and who is a member of a professional institute which has a code of ethics.
9. Hanson to provide a detailed survey of soft sand resources in Oxfordshire including current operating sites by an
independent consultant who is not a member of Hanson staff and who is a member of a professional institute which has a code of ethics.
This is necessary because it is by no means clear that the true situation is known.
