After 14 years as Parish Clerk, and in my 82nd year of life, I feel it is about time I handed over to someone a little younger.
The job takes some five hours a week (any five hours you like) and pays a national rate. It will not make you rich, but it will pay for the vegetables. All it calls for is some basic arithmetic for the accounts, some PC knowledge for the minutes, and an ability to communicate intelligibly. The rest is dependent on how large a part you wish to play in local affairs.
Training is available. Being a Longworth resident is desirable, but not essential.

Many thanks to the villagers a for their co-operation for last monday especially for keeping the traffic calm and letting the funeral cortege pass through without any mishaps. For anyone who witnessed the procession it was an amazing sight very impressive a truly inspirational family .

In Memory of Mrs Alice Smith sadly passed away 22nd march aged 85 , like her husband Reuben honoured with a large but dignified funeral attended by many of the travelling community and settled villagers. The Amazing wreaths just shows how loved and respected she was. Reunited with her husband Reuben, many fond memories goodnight godbless.

Along with hundreds of like villages, Longworth is joining in the currently popular national project of making a Neighbourhood Plan. These plans are intended to embrace not simply housing, but virtually any improvement a community feels it needs – and can by majority voting agree on it. An initial well-attended village meeting in January produced enough volunteers for a steering group of an appropriate size and composition; an extended and no doubt tortuous process of information gathering, analysis, report drafting, polling and public inspection has now been set in motion. Our first task will be to arrive at a consensus of residents’ views on what the village should look like in five, ten, or even twenty years’ time. We can then, it is hoped, plan towards this end.
