Jonathan was brought up in Cornwall and read economics and politics at Keele University,
before taking a PGCE in geography and PE at Cheltenham. He taught economics, politics and
social studies at a grammar school in Islington, then at a comprehensive school in Potters
Bar, before moving into the independent sector, first at Epsom College and since 1985 at
Abingdon School.
At Abingdon School he is a dayboy housemaster and teaches A level economics and business
studies; as an RYA Senior Instructor he also enjoys teaching sailing. He organises economics
study visits to European cities and took World Challenge Expeditions to Namibia and Tanzania.
He is currently developing links with school and community projects in Moldova. In 1995 he
returned to Keele University to take an MA in Industrial Relations and HRM. Jonathan lives
in Longworth with Annie and a large family, enjoys heavy work in the garden, hill walking,
opera and returning to Cornwall.
